The project “Reflections on the Sea” presents an outdoor photo exhibition consisting of 20 high-resolution photographs, displayed in public open-air spaces with free access for a total duration of three months, across two different locations. The photographs, authored by Hristo Anestev, were taken within the territory of the Burgas region. The exhibition was first opened in May 2021 in front of the Cultural Center “Sea Casino” in the city of Burgas on the occasion of European Maritime Day (20 May). The event was officially inaugurated by Deputy Mayor Vesna Baltina and attracted strong public interest, being visited by numerous residents and guests of the city.

The need to ensure better access to culture for groups and communities from smaller settlements, particularly young people, inspired the idea to present the exhibition—expanded with photographs from 2024—through two consecutive events: one in the village of Marinka and one in the town of Chernomorets. The openings will be accompanied by two thematic events—workshops. Both events will be free of charge, aiming at social inclusion and the creation of a link along the “nature–culture” axis by promoting a cultural product that showcases the diversity of the bird world in the Burgas region.

The aim of the project is to promote the art of photography among communities in small settlements and minority groups by presenting an exhibition revealing the richness of Burgas flora and fauna. The object of the project is the natural heritage of the Burgas region, in particular the different perspectives on the sea. The project seeks social inclusion, with its main ambition being to develop a sense of beauty and aesthetics through art—specifically through a cultural product (photo exhibition)—among youth and adolescents from all social groups, including vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals. At the same time, the project introduces the audience to the vital importance of environmental protection and the personal contribution each of us can make.
