Live underwater views for passengers on board Anastasia near St Anastasia Island

On 31 October 2026, a representative of Via Pontica Foundation was invited on board the tourist vessel Anastasia for a special underwater filming session near St Anastasia Island.

The filming was carried out using the Deep Trekker PIVOT underwater drone, purchased through the AlgaeRevive project. Footage from the area around St Anastasia Underwater Park was streamed live to a television screen on board. Passengers could follow the drone’s progress and observe the underwater environment while the vessel was near the island.

The demonstration added a new perspective to the boat trip, offering passengers a glimpse beneath the surface of the Black Sea. It also showed how underwater technology can make marine natural and cultural heritage more accessible to the public and encourage interest in its exploration and protection.

Via Pontica Foundation thanks the hosts for the invitation and the opportunity to share this experience with the passengers on board Anastasia.
