Via Pontica Foundation presents a photography exhibition in Burgas in the context of the MoreAdaptBSB project

The Via Pontica Foundation has organised an open-air photography exhibition in front of the Burgas Municipality building, focusing on the natural wealth of the Black Sea region and the need to manage it sustainably.

The exhibition was made possible with the support of the Municipality of Primorsko, which provided several photographs of the natural wealth of the municipality that complete the visual narrative. Venelin Todorov, Artist of IAAP and an internationally recognised photographer from Burgas, is also represented with images from other parts of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The selected frames capture both the beauty and the fragility of the coastal environment and open a wider conversation about the impact of climate change and the need for adaptation measures.

The initiative forms part of the Via Pontica Foundation’s work as a partner in the MoreAdaptBSB project (“Less vulnerability, more adaptability – pilot remote sensing assisted restoration of green spaces in coastal and urban areas within the Black Sea region”), co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme.

In this context the exhibition serves an important communication purpose: it makes the project’s themes accessible to the general public and raises awareness of the value of nature-based solutions and innovative approaches to restoring green spaces in coastal and urban areas.

The Via Pontica Foundation is hosting the forthcoming Knowledge Exchange meeting on 2 April 2026. The event will bring together representatives of institutions, the research community and local stakeholders to discuss practical approaches to increasing adaptability to climate risks in the Black Sea region.

MoreAdaptBSB is led by Ovidius University of Constanța, Romania, in partnership with organisations from Greece, Bulgaria and Ukraine, under the “Clean and green region” priority. It runs for 30 months (July 2024 – January 2027) with a total budget of EUR 1,594,728, of which EUR 1,435,255.20 is European Union funding.

The exhibition is freely open to residents and visitors of Burgas and serves as a natural introduction to the themes that will be addressed at the forthcoming meeting.
